Okay, I think I'm a pretty creative person and I have searched the internet high and low and just can not find anything useful about rocks and minerals. We are attempting to compile information and then do a lapbook on this and I can't even find any clip art. Am I overthinking the whole thing? It seems like a great way to have my kids show what they have learned but I guess I need to just dive in???? Can anyone suggest any good ways to get started or any good resources??? Thanks!!!

Selena-

What age?

Start at the Library: Make color copies of rock pictures....look for the Eyewitness books. You can then cut these out and make little minibooks of the rocks your child picks to learn more about. Depending on their age, let them choose the ones that sound interesting, or look interesting. (Say...pick 10 or something, 5 for youngers.)

Other ideas:

You could make a circle book that shows the earth's layers, or an accordian book.

Explore your backyard...or go on a nature walk. Take picture, and a notebook. Sketch what your child sees,

Borrow a rock tumbler, and let your child polish rocks.

Anyone else?

Thanks a bunch!!! I appreciate the input!!!
I found a "purchase" lapbook here, it's kinda spendy for use, but maybe in your budget?

Let us know how it's going!
